WHAT’S THE SOUND OF…JANUARY?!

Hello 2017! How are you? Good? Yeah, I’ve heard many good things so far. No, I’m only talking about music, so let’s focus on that. My favorites of January? Okay, here we go!

I was disappointed with Gone Is Gone’s first EP, which surprised me, considering their members. I’m glad that they changed my opinion on their project with Echolocation, featuring some great compositions. The cover of Portishead‘s “Roads” is simply amazing.

I was really surprised by the level of greatness on this record;  I never expected it to be that good. The Perfect Element Part I is one of my favorite prog records, but after that I couldn’t really connect to the majority of POS records. That changed with In The Passing Light Of Day.

I’m doing hours of unpaid work per week exactly for this: To discover bands like The Swan Thief, to recommend them and to support them. This is nothing other than a masterpiece of modern music. Every note gives me chills down my spine, I’m in love with every word, every guitar stroke, every drum stick move. Music in its purest beauty. Sonic aesthetics.
