WHAT’S THE SOUND OF…MAY?!

Yeah, you’re right. Time goes by so quickly. Another month is over, and May was full of STUNNING records. It was a real struggle to cut it down to 25 (yeah I know, 5 more than usually, but c’mon), but the end of that odyssey is a very decent list.

The masters of “pushing the boundaries of hip hop to unknown spheres” are back with their noisey, hardcore/grindcore influenced new album Bottomless Pit. If you hate them, fine. I totally get it that you can think about Death Grips as pretentions noise-hipsterism. Or you can love them. Whatever.

Absolutely unique. Terminal Redux is a conceptual masterpiece, whose roughness can avoid the listener. But give them a chance, and follow the lyrics. You won’t be disappointed.

This record is a time travel. Amazing 70’s/80’s jazzy Stevie Wonder-esque r’n’b mixed with some 90’s soul/r’n’b and a driblet of psychedelic rock and synthwave on top. You have to listen to this masterpiece to experience the catchiness.

What’s the thing with Gorguts that they let nearly all the modern tech death bands sound like school bands? These death metal veterans released a 33 minutes-long track called Pleiades’s Dust, and it’s a magnificent experience from start to finish. All the roughness, the disturbing conception, the intensity led to one of the best tracks in 2016.
