At Euroblast this year I was lucky enough to set up an interview with Rémi Gallego, most prominently known for his work with The Algorithm. However, this time around, we got to discuss his new side project Boucle Infinie. If you haven’t been lucky enough to catch onto this hot news, Rémi has segued his talent into a synthwave/post-rock project, combining the 2 genres into nostalgic soundscapes that allow you to drift off and relax, very contrary to what we’ve come to expect over The Algorithm‘s life span.
We sat down and chatted about the inspiration for the project, and the artists that inspired his journey down this path. Later, we discussed what to expect from the EP, and it’s incredible upon hearing 直線移動 how many influences and genres Rémi has managed to fit within the 5 song span of the record. We also spoke about the instruments and recording process behind the EP, and it was really cool to hear how Remi brought the project to life through techniques you might not expect from someone with his background.
You can hear the interview below or follow the link through to our mixcloud. Coming in the next few days will be the first review of Rémi’s latest work, so stay tuned and make sure to pick up a copy of 直線移動 from Bandcamp on its November 24th release.
