It’s premiere time at It Djents! For this one, we’re showing off a wonderful guitar playthrough of Through Lucid Eyes‘ “Introspection”. Coming a little more than a month after the one-year anniversary of the Ontario progressive metalcore band’s most recent EP Transient, this video shows all the guitar technique that went into making a standout track from that release. Take a look:
Although we are deprived of the track’s vocals here, this instrumental format of the song allows the focus to solely be on Ryan O’Grady and Zach Avery, the band’s two guitarists. They showcase their fretwork, capturing every melody and riff from various angles on their eight-string guitars. It’s all handled with a calm finesse and focus.
One thing I always find interesting is how tranquil a guitarist can look when playing the heaviest parts of their songs in playthroughs. This video shows just that, and it speaks to the level of musicianship these guys have. Also, picking the Canadian wilderness for this shoot was a nice choice, as it lends a natural beauty to the clip, something you don’t see terribly often in playthroughs (also conveniently a good place for personal introspection).
Special thanks to Through Lucid Eyes for the opportunity to premiere this playthrough of theirs! Please support the band by liking their Facebook page. You can stream their EP Transient on Spotify, iTunes and other services, as well as find their previous work on Bandcamp.
