EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: NYN – “Maelstrom II: The Ignorance of the Gatekeeper” (feat. Brandon Morris of A Sense of Gravity)

Manned by a stacked three-piece line-up, and featuring appearances by various tech-death and progressive metal veterans, Virginia’s NYN has come out in full force with “Maelstrom II: The Ignorance of the Gatekeeper”, off of their upcoming album Entropy: Of Chaos and Salt, which will see release on August 11th via Vmbrella.

Active since the mid-2000’s, progressive/technical death metal outfit NYN have several releases to their credit. The project comes from the mind of Virginia-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Noyan Tokgozoglu. Eager to raise the bar further, Noyan has joined forces on this upcoming record with renowned guitarist Tom ‘Fountainhead’ Geldschläger (ex-Obscura, live Defeated Sanity, live Nader Sadek), and keyboard/synth virtuoso Jimmy Pitts (Pitts Minneman Project, Eternity’s End, Equipoise) to create the ambitious, sixty-plus minute Entropy: Of Chaos and Salt.

Noyan had the following to say about the album NYN‘s new lineup:

‘NYN was conceived as a solo project, but I’ve always wanted to do more with it. When I met Jimmy and Tom, I knew that I had to work together with them. I’ve been a fan of both of their work throughout their careers, and felt that their talent would help me take the technical death metal sound I had to the next level… With their help, we created an album unlike anything before – fast, complex and adventurous. With Entropy: Of Chaos and Salt, my aim was to be challenging, both musically and conceptually. We all pushed our creativity and technicality to the next level.’

NYN is:

Noyan (Carthage) – vocals, guitar, bass, percussion
Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschlager (ex-Obscura, Fountainhead) –  guitar
Jimmy Pitts (Pitts Minneman Project, Eternity’s End, Equipoise) –  keys, theremin, and seaboard

Entropy: Of Chaos and Salt features:

Christian Muenzner (Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, ex-Obscura, ex-Defeated Sanity), C.J. Jenkins and Brandon Morris (A Sense of Gravity), and Hayato Imanishi (Cyclamen).
