It Djents has the distinct honor of premiering this emotive progressive masterpiece from Armenian musicians Palemoon. This is the first anybody has heard from the band since the beginning of 2017. But there could not possibly be a greater reemergence than with this excellently crafted tune. Inspired by some of the greatest names in prog metal/rock, Palemoon assure listeners that they are a future force to be reckoned with.
The musicianship of violinist Gor Karapetyan overlaying those subtle piano tones is exquisite enough. But the clarity goes up a notch when the guitar work of Mher Matevosyan comes into play and those heavy layers start to crush. Add some enigmatic vocals, an explosive solo and some thunderous bass pedals, and you have yourself a pure gem. “Journey” is hypnotic, mysterious and thrilling all in equal measure. Miss at your own peril.
It might be true that the content of their social media and music channels are minimal. But this song proves how busy the band have been behind the scenes, and the best is seemingly yet to come. “Journey” is the first taster from Palemoon’s forthcoming debut album The Silhouette. It gives us every indicator that the album will be a stunner, and that Palemoon are a band to watch out for in the years ahead.
