If you’re anything like me, you love it when the bass is featured in a song. Far too often the instrument doesn’t get its time in the sun. Well, The Omnific are out to right that wrong. The band features two bassists and a drummer, creating a sound that is all their own. Think Polyphia but with driven by the low notes. Today we have a real pleasure in premiering a dual bass playthrough video for their new song, “Objets de Vertu” from their upcoming EP, Kismet. It’s a lilting, groovy piece that exudes style and proficiency. Check out the video!
The Australian trio shows a real knack for writing djent riffs and crafting an atmosphere that’s fun and intricate. With Kismet coming on November 24th, I can’t wait to hear more new material from this talented band. While instrumental progressive music isn’t a new or novel idea, wrinkles in the formula like this can change the landscape up in new and exciting ways. I am a firm believer that constraints breed creativity and this band, with just a 10 bass strings and a drum kit are proving just that.
