Just as you were getting your breath back from rocking out to Shade, the last Living Colour album, Corey Glover comes out of left field to deliver something fresh. He’s gathered together a new ‘supergroup’ to create some pretty visceral rock with Ultraphonix.
Teaming up with George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), Chris Moore, and Pancho Tomaselli (two talented studio greats), this quartet have just premiered a new track from outta nowhere. “Walk Run Crawl” is a solid slice of heavy rock, and the video is awesome too. Featuring the four of them rockin’ out in a gritty, Ridley Scott-style spacecraft, it has high production values. The song is also catchy as hell. “Walk Run Crawl” showcases Glover’s inspired political and socio-economic lyrics that we all know and love. Combining this with production from Bob Daspit (Hagar, Chickenfoot), the whole thing is hard-hitting, both lyrically and sonically.
From this brief taster, this band is clearly taking the unique guitar sound of Lynch and fusing it with the awesome and instantly recognisable vocal of Glover. Add to this a sprinkling of virtuosic playing from Moore and Tomaselli, top it off with high energy chemistry, bake in the oven for two months, and then feast on the full album, Original Human Music, which is due out on August 3.
The album could be a pretty diverse affair as, according to Lynch, ‘[it] sounds like a fusion of early Red Hot Chili Peppers meets King Crimson meets Judas Priest.’ Given the pedigree of the musicians involved, and the fun they seem to having with the above track, I can imagine that fans are going to be treated to something pretty special. Original Human Music will be released on August 3, 2018 via earMUSIC. Pre-order the album here and follow the band for the latest news on Facebook.
