NEWS: ArcTanGent Announces More Bands For 2018 Festival Line-Up

Welp, ArcTanGent seems to be the place to be this year for fans of rock music of many kinds. A month ago, an impressive first wave that included Rolo Tomassi, Alpha Male Tea Party, Pianos Become The Teeth, and Giraffes? Giraffes! was announced. While fans were speculating on what other bands could make the line-up even better, the organizers at ArcTanGent had to have been smiling knowingly and slyly into a camera like they were on The Office because they knew they would soon be announcing bands like Alcest, Zeal & Ardor, and Glassjaw!

Friday headliners Glassjaw stuck a nice return with last year’s Material Control; I had a fun time reviewing it. ArcTanGent 2018 will be the post-hardcore darlings’ exclusive festival show in the UK for this year. They join newly-announced Chicago rock act Shellac, who will headline the following day on Saturday, and previously announced Thursday headliners And So I Watch You From Afar.

As far as the deep billing, Alcest have been secured as well, bolstering out the post-metal, -gazey side of the festival. It’s been a year-and-a-half since they dropped Kodama (which we also reviewed), and as respected as they are in the community and with how prolific they have been over the last almost two decades, they are sure to be a big draw. We also got Zeal & Ardor, no doubt one of the most interesting acts on the billing. The bluesy experimental black metal outfit that started as a one-man band has had a meteoric rise ever since releasing their debut album Devil is Fine. People that like avant-garde, genre-straddling music should see a lot of heart in what Zeal & Ardor do.

These are but some highlights from the recent wave of bands announced. There’s plenty more where that came from, including La Dispute, Arcane Roots and Black Peaks. ArcTanGent is stacking the crowdpleasing bands high and wide for this year’s festival, and you can see all the confirmed bands on the updated poster below. The fest itself takes place in Bristol, UK from August 16 through 19. Tickets are attainable a number of ways right now through their website.
