‘Be Prog! My Friend’ has just gotten a little friendlier with an announcement earlier today that Norwegian prog rock band Gazpacho and Andorran prog death metal band Persefone have been added the lineup! They join Sons of Apollo, Pain of Salvation and Plini as previously announced, with even more bands to be revealed soon enough. The 2018 two-day festival held in Barcelona, Spain will have its momentous ‘fifth chapter’ next June on the 29th and 30th.
Gazpacho‘s uniquely interesting brand of artsy prog rock has been deftly refined across two decades and nearly ten studio album releases. The festival announcement highlights them as a highly requested band, saying further, ‘many say they sound similar to Radiohead or Porcupine Tree [sic]. What we do know though is that we are honoured to finally have them at the festival. The tour to support their most recent album Molok was a complete success with several sold out shows all over Europe.’
Persefone have been making waves this year with the release of their latest album Aathma earlier in February. It earned a rare 10/10 here at It Djents and fans of their progressive death metal style can easily see why, as can the showrunners of ‘Be Prog! My Friend’ who called them ‘one of the most promising bands‘. We couldn’t agree more!
As stated before, more bands will be announced in the future, so expect more news out of Spain soon! Follow the official ‘Be Prog! My Friend’ Facebook page for news and more information, as well as the event page. Gazpacho can also be followed on Facebook as well as their official site.
