After a steady build-up of teases, getting signed to Aural Music, and re-releasing their phenomenal LP Conduit, stellar UK progressive doom metal band King Goat have released the first details of their next album. It will be called Debt of Aeons, set to be released on April 20! You can listen to a teaser medley of some music from it right now:
I’m not a fan of teasers like this personally, because it doesn’t correctly contextualize what you hear, but I know the point of a teaser is to tease, and with new King Goat stuff, I’ll take what I can get! The band has some succinct words on the tone and theme of it all:
‘The album is, in many ways, a reflection of the world in which it was conceived; the result of personal mental decline and the resultant pessimistic view of our species. This negativity permeates the record at an atomic level, seeping from between the riffs and spilling like bile from the lyrics themselves. Our sound further expands on the journey that Conduit began, exploring a multitude of paths to do justice to our vision. Debt of Aeons is upon us and we’re proud to release this record.‘
Sounds dark, doomy and…goaty. In all seriousness, though, for my money, King Goat are one of the best bands out right now, even only after an EP and one album. If they deliver anything near the quality of work that could be heard on Conduit, they are poised to be album of the year contenders for 2018.
Preorders for Debt of Aeons go live on March 2. Keep it locked to King Goat‘s Facebook and official website, which will surely have more information around that time. Check out Conduit on Bandcamp to get hyped up!
