Some sad news to start this new year as bassist, guitarist, keyboardist and founding member of English prog rock band Big Big Train Andy Poole is leaving the band. A picture of a mock postcard with a message from Poole typed on it was shared on the band’s Facebook page early on New Year’s Day:
The band also released a short statement along with the picture saying that the band will continue on with the seven remaining members, recruiting an additional musician for future live performances. This is seemingly out of nowhere with Big Big Train just having one of their best years yet with the release of two great projects (seriously, did you hear Grimspound yet?), but it appears that Poole’s departure is on good terms, and he doesn’t seem to rule out potential future musical endeavors in the future. Here’s to hoping for more music from him!
I’d like to echo the band and many other fans in saying thank you to Poole for 27 years (!!!) of great music and wish you the best in the future!
