Longtime It Djents followers probably don’t need an introduction to Plini anymore; after all, he’s become quite ubiquitous within the djent/progressive metal scene for his gentle, jazz fusion-inspired jams, which he showcased on his brilliant early run of EPs and his 2016 full-length release Handmade Cities. Today, the man announced his first full headline tour in two years for September, spanning five dates across his native country (and continent), Australia. Support will be coming from Serbian soft-djent phenomenon David Maxim Micic, who’s been a steady fixture in the instrumental parts of our scene for years now as well, and Animals As Leaders guitarist Javier Reyes’ side project Mestis.
This piece of news comes almost three months after the release of his latest single, “Salt + Charcoal” (read more about that here) and the announcement of a European run with Arch Echo taking the second support slot instead of Micic.
Peep the Australian dates, along with the official tour poster, below!
09/07 – The Zoo – Brisbane
09/08 – Manning Bar – Sydney
09/13 – Badlands – Perth
09/14 – Jive – Adelaide
09/15 – Corner Hotel – Melbourne
But wait, do you see the tour’s title in the upper left corner of the poster? Plini, you sneaky guitar hero! Not only does the official FB post announcing this tour say that he’ll release a new EP on July 27 (rumors of a new release have been circling for a while now), he also hid its title in plain sight: Sunhead! I mean, it’s all on the bottom left corner of the poster for everyone to see, but where’s the fun detective work in that?
With a little over a month to go until Sunhead comes out, I’m sure that there’s plenty of excitement going around right now! You can be sure to catch some new tunes on the newly-announced tour, so act fast if you want one of those tickets! Make sure to follow Plini on Facebook for more info about his upcoming EP, new tours, singles et cetera.
