NEWS: Riverside Are Back! 2018 Album And Tour Announced

Well, here is some news that I’d never thought I’d report on. In their own words, Riverside are back! Not only are they back, but they have a brand new studio album and tour coming this year. Fans rejoice!

As posted on their Facebook page:

It is our pleasure to announce that this year we’re going on the ‘WASTE7AND TOUR 2018’ to promote the new Riverside album called Waste7and, which will be released at the end of September‘.

NEWS: Riverside new album and tour

Let’s take a step back. Since the tragic death of Piotr Grudziński in 2016, the band have continued as a trio and released a compilation of ambient soundscapes that was a departure from previous albums. They have been committed to staying together as a trio to tour and record, which was amazing news for the fans. It sounds like their latest album will be released under InsideOut Music, their long-time label partners and a sign of quality in the world of modern prog. I, for one, class their 2013 album A New Generation of Slaves as one of the greatest modern prog albums of all time, and am hoping that even with this new trio format, they can recreate the magic of that album again.

It is also worth noting that guitarist Mariusz Duda has been busy outside Riverside with his other successful project, Lunatic Soul. Both Fractured and Under the Fragmented Sky hit our reviews team, with the former album making many a ‘best of 2017’ end of year lists.

The European tour to support the new album kicks off in October 2018. Tickets go on sale from Friday, June 1, so get in quick! The complete list of dates announced are below:
