German post metal collective around leader Robin Staps finally revealed some details about a new record and tour! After doing a run on their 10 year anniversary of Precambrian, the band finally got back with more activity. It’s almost six years since the release of their latest Pelagial and already was about time for some new material after the band’s split with Japan’s finest post rock Mono.
The new The Ocean album will be called Phanerozoic and will be released on November 2nd via Pelagic Records. According to an Instagram post the band choose Fascination Street Studios, the studio of prog metal mastermind Jens Bogren. That’s basically all that we can tell you at the moment, as more info to follow.
If you are familiar with The Ocean you will see their record’s name is something usual to them. The phanerozoic is the time including the paleo- and mesozoic era – in years 541 million years – before Precambian.
Anyway the tour in support of Phanerozoic will feature their friends in Rosetta and Arabrot.
