NEWS: Windhand Announce Split Album With Satan’s Satyrs, Release New Track

It feels like it’s been much too long since we heard any new output from Virginia’s Windhand. After all, their last album, stoner doom masterpiece Grief’s Infernal Flower, was released two years ago. Having just wrapped up a European tour with fellow Virginians Satan’s Satyrs, it’s safe to say the two bands got pretty cozy, because they have announced a split album featuring music from both bands!

That’s not all, either. Windhand were kind enough to release a new track titled “Old Evil” from the split to prepare us for the heaviness!

Watch the video for “Old Evil” below:

Seems like Windhand haven’t missed a beat. Dorthia Cottrell’s vocals are still absolutely stunning, the guitars are as fuzzy and sludgy as ever, and the drums plod through with doomy precision. It’s a bit more fast-paced than their usual fare, which makes sense, since their split-mates Satan’s Satyrs‘ approach to classic metal/doom is a bit quicker overall (relatively speaking). Can’t wait to hear more!

No fancy title for the split as is common, but we know that it’s coming February 16 on Relapse Records, and you can preorder it right now physically and digitally through Relapse’s website. Follow Windhand on Facebook, Bandcamp, and check out their official site. Satan’s Satyrs can also be followed on Facebook and Bandcamp.
