EXPLORE: Reflections Of Consciousness – “Exist”

Every day new bands appear and old bands also seem to dissappear. This band is called Reflections Of Consciousness and they are going to release their debut EP Exist on the first of November. The EP is already on stream at bandcamp, and can be downloaded for a small amount of money.

The band is playing something that sound like a mix of ERRA and Monuments, without having vocals, that are singing choruses or something like this. The first song “Armophus State” shows a lot of instrumental ability of the single members. Whether intriguing guitar soli or just groovy patterns, this song is very catchy at all. Its synthesizer ending directly leads into the next song that again starts very heavy and mathy. The band works a lot with dissonances in their break, which reminds a lot of The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza. The synthesizers effect a Born Of Osiris-like vibe, that fits good into the progressive outfit of the songs.

Right after two songs, the last song of this short EP is reached. “Perfect Zero” keeps in mind with an interesting clean break, and again a lot of intriguing melodies and demanding groove. Also some melodic breaks remind of Within The Ruins. At least I think, that some vocals would not be misplaced. It would give the music a bit more range and maybe catchiness. The instrumental foundation is more than solid and promises an interesting future for the band. I am already stoked to hear new music of Reflections Of Consciousness, who did a good job on their debut album.

Score: 8/10

Notable Tracks: “Armophus State” , “Perfect Zero”
